VEHICLE MAINTENANCE WITH GPS TRACKERS

Does spring bring thoughts of – budding business -more drivers – vehicle checkups? A routine vehicle maintenance program is important to keep your fleet cars, truck, or vans running smooth.  Set reminders (i.e., Oil Change 5000 or 10000 miles, Tags Due, Tire Rotation 6000 miles, Vehicle State Inspection, etc.) on GoTrack using your Vehicle Tracking System.

Most vehicle owners follow their owner’s manual’s suggestions for taking care of their vehicle maintenance.  Some tasks you can do yourself or at your shop. Some tasks require vehicles to be taken to licensed Vehicle Inspection shops or, still under warranty, be taken to certified mechanics at certain places.

Vehicle Maintenance research on-line suggests DIY lists. (I’ve only done two my self – check tires and check oil.)  Bob is required to do routine checks each road trip on his truck and does some vehicle maintenance tasks as needed himself while other maintenance help that can wait will be noted for the yard depot shop, next time he is in.  His job sends him reminders of upcoming check-ins for “A” maintenance vehicle work or “B” maintenance vehicle work coming due on his vehicle to schedule with the shop and knows what that list entails.

Whether you do it yourself or have it done in a shop, your vehicle will run better being properly maintained.

Below are three basic but different vehicle maintenance check lists that I came across on-line

  1. Air Filter.
  2. Windshield Wipers.
  3. Spark Plugs.
  4. Oil and Oil Filter.
  5. Battery Maintenance.
  6. Radiator Flush.
  7. Brake Pads.
  8. Fuel Filter Replacement.
  9. Acquaint yourself with your owner’s manual.

  1. Change your oil and oil filter. …
  2. Check your tires monthly. …
  3. Inspect all other fluids. ..
  4. Examine belts and hoses. …

  1. Change the oil.
  2. Change the oil filter, air filter and fuel filter.
  3. Check the PCV valve for proper operation.
  4. Check the spark plugs and spark plug wires.

With GoTrack Vehicle Tracking System, you can be emailed, texted, or review on-line when tasks are due (i.e., Oil Change (5000 or 10000) miles, Tags Due, Tire Rotation (6000) miles, Vehicle State Inspection, etc.)   See “GoTrack – Creating Maintenance Task” and “GoTrack – Resetting Maintenance Task” on Video Demos: https://www.youtube.com/user/1timer219.

Question from our GoTrack customer to Support: I want to set up a maintenance task for a vehicle, but two of my vehicles have the same name. They’re in different fleets……

Support Answer from Nic: You could try putting the initial of the city before the name of the vehicle to distinguish between any duplicate names. That way you would know which fleet/city each vehicle corresponds with and have maintenance tasks for any of them.
